What is healing? It’s getting back to the authentic, unconditioned self.
Healing is a journey. It’s a lifelong process to reach the space of inner wholeness inside of each of us. What blocks us from accessing this space? Our mind.
Specifically the chattering, protesting, temper-tantrum loving mind that is the subconscious. The programming created in childhood that we run on every time we are not in the present moment.
It’s easy for me to say ‘you are not your thoughts.’ But this is something you need to show yourself. The more times you flex the ‘will’ muscle and move past your mind the more times the brain adapts. It gets the message loud and clear that it can have all of its thoughts, but they no longer dictate behavior.
When your thoughts don’t dictate your behavior, you start to work toward self-mastery. Self mastery in simple terms is intentionality.
Today is my day ‘off.’ I’m up at 5, doing my routine. This is the first gift I give myself. It doesn’t always feel like a gift. Sometimes I face resistance in sitting. But I sit. I always sit. Even when my mind is racing. That intentional muscle is flexed every morning. And it serves me long after those early morning moments.
Start getting uncomfortable. Set up small (very small) situations where you get past your mind. Begin to trust that your mind has an IDEA (based on the past) of how it should be, but you have the empowerment only choice can bring.
Heal the wounds of self-betrayal. The mind will keep you comfortable, but it is intentional choice that leads to growth.
